We expected the off-road version of the Volvo after a teaser during its launch in 2023. Now, it’s finally here. Volvo introduced the EX30 Cross Country in a cozy cabin in snowy Sweden. This new model has extra features and more ground clearance for drivers who want to explore off-road.

The EX30 is a best seller in Europe and is now launching in North America.

Small size, But built for big Adventures

The Volvo new EX30 Cross Country is a compact electric SUV with rugged features, designed for off-road adventures despite its small size.

The new model shows some clear differences from the standard version. It has an embossed black grille, skid plates, and wider wheel arches. It also features larger 19″ wheels, with an optional 18″ all-terrain tire.

Inside, the new model keeps the EX30’s smart tech and storage but upgrades them for off-road use.

Volvo took out the door speakers and added large storage bins instead.
The speakers are now located on the dashboard in a soundbar.
Like all EX30 models, the Cross Country variant comes with a 12.3″ tablet-style infotainment system that includes Google.

When and How Much Volvo new Ex30 cross country?

The 2025 Volvo EX30 is expected to launch in early 2025, with a starting price of $36,245 for the base model

The 2026 EX30 Cross Country is set to launch in the U.S. later this year. Customers have just started receiving the standard EX30 Twin Motor Performance models after many changes to the release schedule since last June.

The standard EX30 models were originally made in Zhangjiakou, China, which exposed them to tariffs on Chinese-built EVs from the U.S. government. It’s unclear where the EX30 Cross Country will be built, but Volvo has shifted production of U.S.-bound EX30 models to its factory in Ghent, Belgium. This change may help avoid import issues and keep prices lower for both the standard and Cross Country models.

Volvo has not announced the price for the new EX30 Cross Country yet.
However, we expect it to be higher than the current Twin Motor Performance trim, which starts at $46,195.
The Cross Country will likely be priced around $50,000.

It’s easy to find a comfortable seating position with the front seats that are easily adjustable.
The rear seat backs are made of the same material that is used on the seats to give a premium feel. This also increases legroom in the rear.

Door opening alert

The EX30 has rear radars that spot cyclists and scooters coming from behind.
It sounds an alert if someone in the car tries to open a door.
The alert has two levels.
First, you’ll see a warning on the center display and a steady light for the blind spot information system (BLIS).
If a collision is likely, the alert gets stronger.
You’ll hear a warning sound and the BLIS light will start to flash.

Driver alert system

Your car can tell if a driver is distracted or sleepy.
An infrared sensor on the steering wheel watches the driver’s eyes and head movements.
It measures how quickly they blink and how often.
A camera in front looks at the road to spot unusual driving, while another sensor checks the steering wheel.

When the car analyzes this information and finds a distracted or drowsy driver, it sends messages to remind them to focus or take a break.

Collision avoidance systems

The EX30 helps prevent accidents with other vehicles, pedestrians, and cyclists, day or night. It provides sound and visual alerts, as well as brake pulse warnings when it detects a collision risk.

If a crash is likely or if you turn into the path of another vehicle at an intersection, the car can automatically brake. In some cases, it can also steer to help avoid or lessen the impact of a collision.

Better charging, faster.

Charging reminders and station finder

When your battery reaches 20 percent, you’ll get a charging reminder.
The reminder will show you nearby public charging stations on Google Maps.
Choose a station, and you’ll get turn-by-turn directions, an estimated arrival time, and the expected charge level when you get there.

Battery preconditioning for rapid charging

Choose your route to a charging station, and your car will prepare the battery by heating or cooling it to the best temperature for charging.
This helps the battery charge faster and more efficiently when you get there.

Charge 10% to 80% in 26.5 minutes

You can charge your EX30 from 10 to 80 percent in just 26.5 minutes at fast public charging stations. A wallbox also speeds up home charging.
It charges your EX30 up to five times faster than a regular household socket.
You can start and stop charging, schedule it, and check your progress on the wallbox or your smartphone.
